  • Numerous reports indicate that women with early stage breast cancers who choose the BCT option plus radiation therapy are as likely to be alive and disease-free 20 years later as women treated with mastectomy.[7,8]

  • Despite comparable long-term survival rates, still some 40 percent of patients with early-stage breast cancer choose the mastectomy option.[9]

  • Up to 25% of women who undergo breast conservation surgery (lumpectomy) do not complete the full course of radiation therapy, which is considered the standard-of-care following a lumpectomy.[10]
