Applicator Components

Each applicator has a circular catheters positioned near the periphery of the closed end. The catheter provides a path for the radioactive Ir -192 HDR afterloader source.  The catheter plane is nominally 2.5 cm from the surface of the applicator to eliminate any “hot spots” and provides a uniform dose to the targeted breast tissue.
